Loving these girls....

Hello!  I know it has been so long, the countdown to Surtex is on and I just keep giving myself more and more work!  I came across these great paintings and thought they were so precious, so I wanted to share them with you.  I love how all the girls seem super trendy, sunglasses, braids, high heels....all my favorites.  Have a great day and I will be more attentive, promise!

Cranes and Peacock artwork

Hello!  I know it's been awhile and I am a bad blogger right now.  I am getting a little frazzled with all my Surtex preparations, which seem never ending-but I am excited at the same time!  I promise I will be better after the show and have more giveaways of all the artwork and patterns I am posting about....Monday giveaways will be back!  Plus, I will be including some of the products that I am licensing and that will be available in June!

For now, I wanted to show you some of my completed paintings.  They are both original acrylic on canvas paper, which is great for framing.  The other crane with the pattern in the background is a little digital artwork that I did using the crane, what do you think...is it too much?  I think in the right spot it could be a great pop of color for a room.  I will definitely share my new collection of patterns that I am taking to Surtex soon, put your sunglasses on because I am all about bright colors this year!

Art wall...wall art

Add color by wrapping a plain matte board with fabric

A collection of artwork and photographs is perfect for a large wall, you also need a cute helper.

I have a giant wall in the guest bedroom and it took forever to figure out what to do.  Here is what it looks like now, it's mostly my artwork, family and friends pictures.  That is my favorite engagement picture of my hubby and I (just celebrated 4 years of happiness last week!)

The painting is a landscape that I painted in Greece, I spent a summer there painting.  The others are monoprints of the coastline and flowers off the island.  A great way to add color to a more simple piece of art or picture is to wrap the matte board in fabric.  It's really easy and cheap, I can do a DIY tutorial if anyone is interested? I think mixing abstract art and pictures with fabric matte boards would really create a stunning wall art arrangement!

3 things to remember when you're collecting stuff for an art wall.

1) Different sizes and shapes
2) Different textures (wooden frames, sleek frames, artwork with textured paint, photographs)
3) Space it out on floor or use paper on the wall before nailing!

I really want to update my art wall, I want to make it a little more modern and have more bright and colorful abstract paintings, more illustration art, and different frames.  I am thinking of using some of my new artwork below!  This may turn into redoing the entire room though!  Do you have an creative ideas to add to a modern art wall that I can use?

Work in progress...

Here is a little snippet of what I have been working on lately!  I can't stop drawing birds these days.  This is an African Crane, normally it's white and gray but, this one needed some color.  It's just the start so I'll post the finished result when I'm done.  It's a bad picture, the colors are a little off...

I am still working on new Ikat paintings, new 8x10 abstracts, and more fun birds to share.  I am up in the air about adding a shopping cart directly on my website?  But, this way prints and original paintings will be available right here.  I would also love to sell some of my patterns that would make great wall art like the one below.  I am thinking all different sizes, large to small and at a very affordable price....hhhmmmm what to do?  I hope you enjoyed the sneak peak into my studio!

Have Fun!
